Engineering Intern Job Description

Blue Collar Engineering and Manufacturing is seeking college interns who are pursuing an engineering or industrial technology degree who want to work while in college with the potential to transition into a full-time mechanical engineering position. We are a mechanical engineering company specializing in the turnkey service of taking ideas for equipment manufacturing from concept to working equipment. 

Our name speaks for who we are. We are engineers who like to be hands on in our projects. We look for interns who want to become engineers who have these aspirations, not engineers who want to sit behind the desk all day and analyze. That being said, the ultimate engineer by our definition is capable of designing, engineering, and building their projects. 

As an efficient and detail-oriented person, you will focus on the following job duties. 

Freshmen and Sophomores:

  • Support the Blue Collar shop needs:
    • Disassembly of equipment / mechanical components, research components and component part numbers, produce listings for components / equipment, pack & ship components / equipment.

Juniors and Seniors: 

  • Support the design and engineering staff in projects including but not limited to:
    • Researching specifications, producing concept designs, operating tools & manufacturing equipment required for manufacturing or assembly of components in projects.
    • Assist Shop Staff and / or Engineer in the assembly and / or commissioning of equipment

Pay Rate:

  • Freshmen and Sophomores - $10-$16 / hour depending on skill level and speed.  
  • Juniors and Seniors - $10-$16 / hour depending on skill level and speed plus project bonuses.

Education Requirements:

  • Pursuing an engineering or industrial technology degree
  • Hands on skill sets preferred - experience with power tools preferred (i.e. saws, grinders, welders, machining tools, etc.)
